KURS HAITHABU! 2012
Historical vessels set course for Haithabu
July 12 - 15, 2012
In 2012 more than 20 square rigged vessels will set course for Haithabu and on their way from Schleimünde to Haithabu they will cause a stir along the river Schlei.
The historical replicas of the Viking-age vessels and more than 200 sailors on board together with an interesting programme on the water and ashore will fascinate the visitors. In the new Viking museum and on the historical site around the Viking village for three days the visitors can immerce in the ancient world of trade and craft as is used to be a thousand years ago.
Shoemakers, amber grinders, bone carvers or even bow makers will show their craft in the Viking houses. Elsewhere on the site the Vikings will invite the visitors to join them in their traditional games and competitions, like shooting with bow and arrow, sword dance and rolling mead barrels.
And of course there will be plenty to eat and to drink. Traditional food, like for example Galloway burgers and legs of the lamp, will suit everyone's taste.
The final highlight will be the sailing parade on the river Schlei at the Großen Breite on Sunday.
Join us! Welcome in the world of the Vikings!
